Think about accident in the water during your dive. How would you react to this situation?. Can you handle the situation without panic?. What would you do if any of your dive buddies needs immediate medical attention?.
All these and many more are among the modules taught in PADI Rescue Diver program. This program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver. Furthermore, this certification is also a prerequisite for all other PADI leadership programs.
The PADI Rescue Diver program is set to develop your knowledge and skills so you could effectively perform diver assist and resuces, manage diving related accident situations and provide first aid.
To enroll for this program, you’ll need to have a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and must be at least 15 years of age. There is also a program for kids ages between 12 and 14 called PADI Junior Rescue Diver who holds a PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver.
You’ll also need to complete a sanctioned program in CPR and First Aid within the past 3 years from any recognized medical bodies. The PADI Rescue Diver program covers variety of emergency scenario including:
• Self rescue
• Tired diver
• Panicked diver
• Response from shore or boat responsive diver
• Distressed diver underwater
• Missing diver procedures
• Surfacing the unresponsive diver
• Unresponsive diver at the surface
• Exiting the unresponsive diver
• First aid for pressure-related injuries and oxygen administration
• Response from shore or boat unresponsive diver
• Dive accident scenarios
