Open Water Diver Certification

Okay, now you might be interested to join us exploring the underwater world but wondering what are the pre-requisites for Open Water Diver certification?.

You must be 10 years of age or older (PADI eLearning however requires 13 years due to international Internet laws. Besides, you should be able to swim (basic swimming will do) and most importantly you must be comfortable in water, this to avoid unnecessary panics during the course of diving.

PADI offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course. It covers what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures.

But if you opt to complete the whole course offline, you may visit your nearby dive center. You will be provided with materials including books to refer and video to watch how scuba gear are used.

Your diving instructor will bring you to do confined water training for a beginning. You will learn how to use the BCD or Buoyancy Control Device and how to control neutral buoyancy for a better diving experience.

Upon completion of the practical and theoretical training, you need to pass the test before you could earn your Open Water Diver certification.
